Central Asia Partnership GroupThe Central Asia Partnership Group (CAPG), formed in 2003 with the support of the Danish Government, aims to promote the peaceful and democratic development of the Central Asian states of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The CAPG consists of the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR), the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and IOM. The Partnership grew out of the realization that problems and opportunities in the region should be addressed within a comprehensive and cooperative framework. Civil Society Capacity Building and ReformThe CAPG assists in strengthening the ability of civil society organizations to participate in constructive dialogue with state bodies through the following projects. Final Consultations on the CAPG on 8-9 May 2007 in CopenhagenOn 8-9 May, the Danish National Museum hosted the Central Asia Partnership Group (CAPG) Phase I Final Consultations ”Retrospectives and Future Work of the Partnership in Central Asia (CA)”, with more than 50 participants gathering in the Danish capital to discuss recent political developments related to peace and stability in the CA region. State Capacity Building and ReformThe CAPG works to strengthen the ability of state institutions to function in a transparent manner and in accordance with democratic principles through the following projects. |
CAPG HistoryThe strategic partnership programme was designed in April 2003 to support various activities to advance democratic development, human rights, and conflict prevention in the region. Recent CAPG eventsIOM, ODIHR/OSCE and the Danish Immigration Service organized the Second Technical Meeting on the Migration-related Data Sharing Mechanism (DSM) on 7-8 June 2005 in Vienna, Austria with Krygyz and Kazakh participants. |
